The only way to fix it is to reboot the server, log in, update QB, stop the DNS Server service, start the QuickBooksDBXX service, start the DNS Server service, then sometimes run the Database Manager utility, THEN re-open QuickBooks and re-open the company file in multi-user mode. I've been having this super fun issue lately with QB Desktop 202X not playing nicely with Windows Server 20XX DNS Server, where any time there is an update for QuickBooks needed, or if you look at QuickBooks the wrong way, or if it's an odd Tuesday on an even month, the QuickBooksDBXX service will crash due to some kind of host checking that tries to use the Windows DNS Server port (not UDP/53). ![]() ![]() Daily scripts to check that both QBCFMonitorService and QuickBooksDBxx services are running and restart them if either aren't. ![]()
